Hello, Happy Friday!! I am still in Morocco and will soon be heading back to Singapore, so as I get ready for another long haul flight, I thought I would share my long haul travel beauty essentials. Because one thing I do way too often is long haul travel. #firstworldproblems
Let’s face it, for those short and sweet flights that are anything less then 3 hours, I just rely on my trusty Lucas’ Paw Papaw Ointment to get me through. Thing is, I’m uber low key when it comes to make-up partly because I am always running late in the mornings and the thought of spending 30 minutes on my face is just no and partly because I’m pretty useless at applying make-up. I slap on some eyeliner; eye shadow – but forget creating shadows or illusion of depth or whatever; mascara and some blush. Sometimes, I may apply foundation but well, being in Singapore, it melts off as soon as I step out the door anyway. I have to admit, I am super impressed by those girls who do meticulously put on their face each morning. One day, I’ll learn!
But the point of this post is not about my daily make-up routine, it’s about what I do bring when I’m getting ready to fly from one end of the earth to the other. These are my bare essentials; actually it is all my essentials. Other’s may have a more thorough routine – like bringing face masks. While that’s a great idea, well, it’s not for me. Although I do like the idea of the masks that are clear and that you don’t have to wipe off. I mean, I don’t know about you, but trying to wash your face in the tiny toilet cubicle is not that easy. If you have a great method for that, please do share in the comments below!
So let’s get started!
A pretty make up bag because it makes me smile. I mean, why not?
Hand moisturizer because my hands always get so dry especially up at 35,000 feet. And I’m one of those people constantly going to the loo and in turn, washing my hands a million times.
Make up remover wipes because not only should you not fly with make up on, it’s also good to give your face a nice wipe off once you land. To refresh your face, if you will, and so if you do want to apply some make up once you get off the plane, then its like a blank canvas. Plus I’ve probably also spent hours and hours re-applying face moisturizer and it’s nice to get that plane scent off! Yuck!
A hydrating facial spray mist because your face is going to get parched up there. That little mist will feel, well, refreshing. And did I say, hydrating?
I always apply a good face moisturizer when I board – especially if I am flying directly after work. And I will re-apply a few times throughout the flight. There is nothing worse then tight, dry, itchy skin. Argh.
My beloved Lucas’ Papaw Ointment goes with me everywhere. I am not kidding, everywhere. I have tubs of it on my desk at work and my nightstand; and I have a tube in each handbag. I live by this because not only does it hydrate my lips, I also use it if I get a mosquito bite or if I get a cut. This thing is pure magic.
And lastly, this isn’t a beauty product per se, and it’s hardly sexy but a good pair of compression socks is a MUST! Plus it allows me to kick off my shoes during the flight and I know I’ll be able to put my shoes back on once we land. I am telling you, there is nothing worse then having swollen feet after a long flight. And sexy it ain’t! True story: My mom flew to Sing from New York and she forgot her compression socks but she still kicked her shoes off. She got into Sing and her feet were so swollen, needless to say, she couldn’t put her shoes back on. She came out to meet me wearing the airline slippers. I died!
Anything I am missing to the list? Or what are your beauty essentials when you fly?
