Happy Father’s Day!
This is the year I almost got to spend Father’s Day with my Dad, unfortunately we missed out by a day. He is currently over the Pacific Ocean on his way back home to NYC, at least my brother will be there to shower him with some love. And actually, come to think of it, my brother is a new dad as well! I was so thrilled to have been able to have spent the past week with him here, even if I was in the hospital.
But this post is dedicated to my Dad who is the most amazing man ever. And of course I’ll say that because he’s mine, but I have seen the years of hard work he has worked to provide for all of us, leaving us with no wants. He diligently worked up the ladder, starting off as the mail room guy at his company and won himself a scholarship to attend an MBA program in the US from Brazil.
Once he graduated, the sky was the limit but he always climbed up with integrity and respect for others. I’m sure along the way he encountered malicious individuals looking out for only themselves, but my Dad treats everyone with kindness – from the garbage man to the Lords (for the UK folks, yep, Lords. He deals with them as part of his job). He still works ridiculously hard today, traveling back and forth from NY – London – Brazil on business trips. And he is technically retired, but he’s one of those who can’t stop working.
He bestowed me and my brother some amazing gifts – that of an amazing education and that of travel. The travel was unintentional and I think if he could have it his way, I’d be living a lot closer to him than I am now. I knew I could spread my wings and take the risks I’ve taken because I knew he’d catch me. I know this may make me sound spoiled, but I know I am truly blessed because of him.
Happy Father’s Day! And Happy Father’s Day to all of your wonderful fathers!
