Happy, happy Friday! And for those of you have a long weekend, lucky you!! If you have been around this little blog for a while, then you may remember I spent a weekend in Ipoh, Malaysia not too long ago? You do? Amazing! I love you for that! But you know how Instagram land is obsessed with painted murals, etc? Well, here’s my take on it as I invite you to explore the Ipoh street art. It’s really quite cute!
It is also similar in style to the street art of Penang (I realize I never did a full post on it, just on the Cats of Penang). Actually, Penang is not too far from Ipoh and people often say that Ipoh is the smaller version of Penang. I would say, I agree! But anyway, we’re here to explore Ipoh street art! As Ipoh is quite small – you can easily do it in a weekend, it’s easy to find the different pieces scattered around the city. Hmm, I struggle to use “city” to describe Ipoh, but it is the capital city of the state of Perak, Malaysia, so city it is.
It’s quite common to get your beverage in a tied up plastic bag around this part of the world. It’s strange at first, but you get used to it. Though to be honest, I’ve yet to have a drink from a plastic bag, though I’ve had some soup and other food given to me in tied up plastic bags! These were all quite close to our hotel, which I do intend to blog about just because it was such a cute place. Except I won’t be staying there again. You’ll have to wait till I blog about it to find out why. Muahahaha I love them because they are interactive and you can get involved in the scene! But also, don’t forget to look up! There was one of a man up above, but unfortunately I couldn’t get a good picture of it because there was bus in my way. Grr. And to round it off with some more fun, slightly whimsical and strange ones. I hope you enjoyed this tour of the Ipoh street art! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
