Five on Friday July
Are we really coming up to the last weekend in July and then we’ll be in August? There must be some craziness in the world where time is just getting fast forwarded. Please tell me that’s the case! Well, it’s been 4 months since I’ve last done a Five on Friday, so maybe I’ll be making this a quarterly thing? Who knows.
I love that picture I took from the plane on my way back to Singapore. My flight from London took off around 9:3opm local time and I forget how amazing summers are in London (if the weather is good!) as the sun sets so late. In Singapore, the sun goes down around 7pm every day without fail, but we do live by the equator. We have been getting some amazing sunsets in Singapore lately, but I love the purples. Where’s your favorite sunset been so far?
My trip back to NYC feels so long ago now and I already miss my family something fierce. It was the greatest feeling in the world seeing my dad so emotional and happy that I had come home to surprise him. I don’t have any pictures – they’re all in my head! – but the look on his face was one I’ll never forget. I came down to the little play area behind our building where he was playing with my nephew and I yelled out, “Hi Daddy!” And he looked at me with this confused expression and then it dawned on him that I was actually there. Then the tears came and the biggest hug ever. 😀 I have to say, the older I get, the harder it is to get on that plane to leave. Just really tugs on my heart, ya know?
On another note, whenever I would fly back home, I would look out the window of the plane as we’re landing and a rush of emotions would come over me that said, “I’m home.” Does that happen to you? I can’t say that happened when I landed back in Singapore this time around. Maybe it was a fluke, let’s see, but knowing that my so many of my good friends have recently left definitely played a big factor – and more are on their way out. So I’m starting to think that my time is up here; it’s time to start moving back home or closer to home anyway.
I happened to be back in the States for Amazon Prime day. I was excited to finally experience this event after having read about it for so long! But alas, what I had my eye on was not part of Amazon Prime day. Oh well, but I still ordered an electric toothbrush. My first foray into the world of electric tooth brushing. Guys – why haven’t you told me how amazing it is?!?! This is revolutionary!! And another thing I’ve finally discovered, or rather, decided to see what the fuss is all about is Game of Thrones and what the heck “Winter is coming” means. I just started Season 1 but haven’t managed to finish it yet. Hmm. Are you obsessed with GoT?
I went for my first run on Monday for the first time this year??! HAHA Not that I have been a regular runner here in Singy, but I think I did ok. I managed to run for about 17 minutes straight and then I ran/walked for another 30 minutes. I came home and I was not only sweating buckets, the sweat wouldn’t stop for a good hour after that. Gross haha, but that’s life for you in the tropics! And then my IT bands were so not happy after that. #old But am slowly getting back into a fitness routine and it feels good to get active again. B
By the way, do you by any chance have a recommendation for a good backpack to run with that’s not super huge? I’d like to be able to run home after work! Let me know in the comments!
And with that, have a great weekend!
