Spread the Love
There aren’t really any words to describe the atrocities that happened in Paris and Beirut last week. Acts of barbarism, but for what? What do they hope to accomplish? What is their ultimate end goal?
The best article I’ve read so far on this subject matter was written 8 months ago in The Atlantic, “What ISIS Really Wants“. I urge you to have a read. As to whether or not they an accurate grasp of the situation, I can’t definitely say, but the recent attacks appear to be well coordinated, but random in terms of targets. A sense of chaos is being created, our illusions of safety are being taken away as they encroach Western targets. But honestly, it doesn’t make sense. What would be the point of essentially annihilating this world? Ridding this world of all the infidels? Then what?!?!
Needless to say, the world is on high alert after Paris. Even Singers is on alert, apparently an Indonesian group loyal to ISIS is looking to target Singapore. But I’m not going to let this interrupt my way of life and I hope it doesn’t interrupt yours. Thing is, you just never know. You just hope that you’re not in the wrong place at the wrong time, but don’t live in fear.
What I can do is continue being a “good” person, although I’m sure members of ISIS see me as a sinful, wicked person who should be killed. But really, I will carry on being tolerant of other people’s views; being kind and compassionate; and understanding that we are all in this planet together. In my opinion, it is our differing views and opinions that makes us unique and an individual. We are allowed to disagree with each other without it causing a fight or a rift. I think ultimately we all want and strive for the same – good health, food, shelter, happiness, love….
